I had an incredibly upsetting and unprofessional experience with Pete’s Inc that left me shaken and in tears. Today I spoke with Greg. I politely introduced myself and explained my situation, hoping to find a resolution. From the moment he answered, he was cold, short, and extremely dismissive. My new technician informed me that whoever previously worked on the valve cover gasket did a poor job and did not install correctly, and since the repair was done less than a year ago by Pete’s Inc, he recommended I contact them to see if it could be repaired under warranty. I asked Greg if he could kindly take a look at the work his shop had done on the valve cover gasket and possibly honor the warranty. His response? “You live in Vacaville and want to drive to SF?” I told him yes, I would gladly make the trip to see him — I just wanted to have the work checked. He then snapped, “You’re not my client and you’ll never be my client. I won’t touch the car.” Shocked, I calmly asked why he was speaking to me that way when I was simply asking for help and information. I reminded him that even if I’m not the original client, he worked on the vehicle less than a year ago. I then asked for a copy of his policy regarding warranty transfers, and he yelled “No, no, no!” I tried to request a copy of the service notes for my vehicle so I could give them to my new mechanic, and mid-sentence, he cut me off, yelled “NO,” and hung up on me. I was left shaken, confused, appalled, and in tears— I’m a young woman in my early 20s just trying to get help with an issue on my car. Greg was yelling at me over the phone and made me feel extremely uncomfortable, even as I remained polite and respectful throughout the conversation. I’ve never been treated so aggressively by a business when I was simply trying to understand the work that had been done to my own vehicle and ask for documentation. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (B.A.R.) and want others to be aware of how dismissive and unprofessional this shop can be. If you value customer service, communication, and basic respect — I strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere.
